Boots on the Ground: The BMCCP 90-Day Impact Report

Real change doesn’t happen from behind a desk. It happens on the pavement, in the alleys, and on the front porches of our neighborhoods.

Since incorporating in January 2019, the Black Male Community Council of Philadelphia (BMCCP) has been dedicated to a singular vision: standing up as trusted servants of the Black community. Recently, we wrapped up our intensive “Boots on the Ground” 90-Day Campaign—and the results speak for themselves. With brooms, rakes, and blowers in hand, our members hit the streets to transform our neighborhoods from the inside out.

The consensus from our membership, partners, and neighbors is loud and clear: This program is necessary. The tangible outcomes have brought a renewed sense of pride, cooperation, and safety to the blocks we serve. Because of this incredible momentum, we are thrilled to announce that Boots on the Ground Campaign 2 is already underway.

Here is a look at what we accomplished together over the last 90 days.

By the Numbers: Benchmarks Achieved

We set rigorous internal benchmarks to measure our impact, tracking our hours, days, and the number of lives touched. Our dedicated teams shattered expectations:

• 72 Days of active, hands-on community service.
• 288 Hours of weekly community presence across our target areas.
• 3,500 Total Hours spent in direct service to the city of Philadelphia.
• 3,000+ Philadelphia Residents positively impacted by our presence and cleanup efforts.

Our campaign focused intensely on three vital areas of Philadelphia, ensuring that the 4400, 4500, 2200, 2300, 2400, and 2500 blocks of our internal streets received dedicated care:

Beyond Cleanups: The Round Table Discussions

A clean neighborhood is only part of the equation; true transformation requires open dialogue. To bridge generational divides, we hosted Round Table Discussions every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

We brought together Black men and youth ranging in age from 16 to 70. The vulnerability and depth of these exchanges surpassed our highest expectations. Together, we tackled the heavy issues impacting our daily lives:

• Gun violence and community safety
• The generational gap and building mutual respect
• The realities of the drug culture
• Employment, education, and economic opportunity
• The healing power of trust, forgiveness, and faith

While we always strive to get more men in the room, the feedback made one thing certain: our method is correct, the message is resonating, and the brotherhood is growing.

The BMCCP operates with clear, evidence-based objectives. Moving forward, we remain fiercely committed to being “Trusted Servants of the Black Community” by focusing on these ongoing pillars:

Our Promise: To provide a safe and clean environment for our women, children, and elderly; to maintain an ongoing presence of responsible men in our communities; to actively aid in stopping senseless violence; and to uplift our neighborhoods with unyielding pride and integrity.

BMCCP Organizational Update: Building a Strong Foundation

As a fully structured 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, we are working diligently to build a bulletproof foundation that can support Philadelphia for decades to come.

1. Solid Structure

We operate with an active Board of Directors, a dedicated Home Base of Operations, and a growing digital presence via our official website.

2. Powerful Affiliations

Real change requires collaboration. We are proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with incredible local and national organizations, including:

• Guardian Civic League, NAACP, Nicetown CDC, Triumph Baptist Church, Father’s Day Rally Committee, Town Watch, 10,000 Fearless, Mothers in Charge, Federal Crime Bureau, Veterans Bureau, and My News Philly.

3. Sustainable Funding

Our work is sustained through disciplined financial channels, including local Crime Prevention Grants, in-house fundraisers, and our vital membership donation drives.

4. Community Events & Mobilization

Over the last 90 days, the BMCCP was front and center at pivotal community milestones, including:

• The Walk for Peace & Give Back Festival
• Muslims 4 Humanity 60th Street Peace Walk
• The 35th and Lancaster Community Engagement Rally
• The 12th and Huntingdon Street Fest (BMCCP Call to Action)
• The Imhotep Charter High School Send-Off Rally for Jamal Johnson’s 21-day march to Washington (a proud BMCCP member).
